The Jura and its regional products

The Jura offers a wide range of local and unique products. Come enjoy a stroll through the vineyards, a tasting in a wine cellar, discover firsthand how the famous Jura cheeses are made, or savor our delicacies in local restaurants.

Jura wines:

The cottage "The Tulips"  bears the label “Vineyards and Discoveries,”  which means it is located in the heart of a wine-growing region and features comprehensive documentation on Jura wines. After six years of experience in a wine house, we are also able to answer all your questions on-site.

Discover the typical wines of the Jura, made from local grape varieties. The most famous is the Yellow Wine, but it is far from being the only one. On the website of the official Jura wine organisation, www.jura-vins.com, you will find all the useful information on the smallest but one of the most fascinating wine-growing regions of France.

But the best part is exploring the region yourself and choosing your wine directly from a local winemaker. The advantage is that you'll always have the opportunity to taste before making your choice.

Here is a small selection of interesting wine estates nearby:

Regional cheeses

What's better than a good piece of cheese to accompany your wine? The Comté is our pride, and you can discover its history at the Comté Museum, located only 15 minutes from the cottage.

Today, the County is the most consumed and most famous cheese in France. But, there are other typical regional cheeses, labelled AOC/AOP, which are also worth tasting: Morbier, Mont d'Or and Bleu de Gex.

Each cheese shop has its own shop, where you can buy these cheeses directly on site. In the centre of Poligny – the capital of Comté – you will find large cheese dairies, veritable treasure troves of dairy products, coming not only from the Jura, but also from all over France.

Another famous cheese, of a completely different kind, but just as famous, is La Vache qui Rit. Originally from Lons-le-Saunier, this world-famous cow has its own museum in its hometown.
